Drawer heights explained
Every Bell & Harrison drawer is 420 mm (16.5 in) deep inside and comes in one of four internal heights. The cabinet sets the width of its drawers. The height of each drawer is yours to choose.

Internal width follows the cabinet: 350 mm in the S420, 520 mm in the S600, 755 mm in the S840, 940 mm in the S1010 and 1190 mm in the S1310. How to choose a cabinet width covers that side of the choice.
What fits in each
Choose each drawer by the tallest thing it will hold, lying the way it will be stored, with a finger's width to spare so it lifts out easily.
Standard, 80 mm (3.1 in)
Flat and shallow things: hand tools laid flat, stationery, cables and chargers, drawing instruments, small parts sorted into trays. In an 80 mm drawer, small things stay in view instead of piling up.
Large, 130 mm (5.1 in)
Things with some height: boxed supplies, folded cloths and textiles, handheld devices in their cases.
Deep, 170 mm (6.7 in)
Bulkier items: storage boxes, tins and jars, larger hand tools, folded clothing.
Extra-deep, 270 mm (10.6 in)
Things that stand upright or will not lie flat: bottles, tall tins, boxes stood on end, bags.
Measure the tallest thing, then choose the drawer.
How heights add up
Cabinets come in five heights: 230, 325, 420, 547 and 743 mm. Each height holds a fixed set of drawer combinations, and the drawer heights fit together in simple steps. In a 230 mm cabinet, two standard drawers take the same space as one deep drawer. In a 325 mm cabinet, three standard drawers take the same space as two large drawers or one extra-deep.

Not every combination exists in every width. The S1310 comes with standard and large drawers only. A few combinations belong to one width: 1 standard + 1 extra-deep at 420 mm exists only in the S420, and 2 large + 2 deep at 743 mm only in the S600. Mixing heights in one cabinet
Most people store a mix of small and bulky things, and a mixed cabinet follows that. The S840 pictured above is 743 mm high, with one standard drawer over three deep ones: a shallow drawer for small items at the top and three taller drawers below it.
If you are unsure, start from what you store most. A cabinet of standard drawers suits many small things. Deep and extra-deep drawers suit fewer, larger ones. Every drawer has a dual slam-shut latch, and a keyed lock is optional.
